Additional ride options left on the calendar

It is great to see the increasing participation we are getting for regular scheduled group rides and our new members getting settled in.

We wanted to remind you of some upcoming great events so you can get them into your calendar.

Steve Hancock Memorial Ride – Saturday, September 18th

The calendar is all set-up for sign ups and September 18th looks to be our largest SHMR with the offering of three ride choices:

  • Peloton Group – +100km departing at 8:30am
  • Tempo Group- approx. 80km departing at 8:30am
  • Social Group – approx. 50km departing at 9am

All rides will pass through the airport and stop at the Ghost Bike so we can all pay our respects. The SHMR will displace our regular DPH Saturday morning ride.

Tanya’s Ride – Saturday October 2nd, 2021

We are working through the final plans for this great event which is lead by the Luder Family in memory of Tanya. The location has been booked and will once again be held from Albion Hills Conservation, but we have switched to Elmview 1 which is an upgrade from last year. Albion Hills site map

  • Road (Peloton) – +/- 100 km starting at 10am
  • Road (Tempo) – +/- 80 km starting at 11am
  • Road (Social) – +/- 50 km starting at 11am
  • Gravel – +/- 70 km starting at 11am (gravel paced)

We will once again require that each rider donate a minimum of $100 with 100% of those proceeds going to the Brian Injury Society of Toronto. The club will cover all the operating costs including food service after the rides.

Sign up will once again be completed through Race Roster which can be located here: Race Roster sign up.

We will be designating this ride as a Try-A-Ride event with the OCA so please feel free to encourage some non-VCC members to come out. They simply have to complete an addition form in Race Roster. We will engage with them to assess their riding capabilities (or have then reach to info@www.velocitycyclingclub.com before signing up).

This should be a great season ending event covering off all aspects of what Velocity represents.

Looking some additional variety? Why not Cycle 4 St. Joe’s on Sunday September 26th?

Why not sign up to support St Joseph Hospital and join the Chain Reaction team led by Bill Greene.

Join the Chain Reaction team.

This ride is raising money for our local hospital and offers rides from 25km to 100km. The event begins at the Velodrome in Milton making for a beautiful ride through the countryside, including rest stops for refuelling along the way.
