VCC to continue trial group riders after the initial weekend success

Velocity Cycling Club is following the lead of the Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) concerning cycling activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The OCA has now increased the group riding to 10 members which VCC will now be following in its ongoing trial weekend rides.

As members are aware of additional procedures to be undertaken during group riding while ther pandemic is still active it is worth mentioning again that:

  • pre and post ride procedures for the club and riders to follow including social distancing including no touching, all rides must be discreet (no staggered starts) and no riders can be substituted during a ride
  • specific PPE requirements for all riders to carry including disposable gloves, a mask, hand santizer and a first aid kit
  • a COVID waiver is required to be signed and provided to the club for its record keeping

to name just a few. All procedures must be followed to permit sanctioned rides to continue and thus have your insurance coverage available. Also, many of these procedures will likely remain with us for the remainder of the year and also should be considered when riding in your non-sanctioned rides.

Group rides

We are continuing to holding 2 separate rides on weekends ranging from 70-80km at a Mixed-Social  (24-28 kph) and Tempo (28-30 kph) pace and have added a Wednesday Tempo weeknight ride but have not yet committed to the full schedule of rides you are all used to.

Anyone who is interested should e-mail who will be managing the allocation of rider slots.

Once we have the level participant list finalized we will communicate directly with those attending on the riders responsibilities prior to attending.

Feel free to read the current OCA release below or await further update from the Board.
