VCC continuously reviews its ride schedule to match it with the changing restrictions imposed by COVID-19 as mandated by the OCA and provincial regulators
Velocity Cycling Club is following the lead of the Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) concerning cycling activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The OCA is adjusting the number of riders permitted on group rides based on the COVID Stage that is applicable at the time in our area and this continues to be a dynamic situation. Initially the club was permitted up to 5 riders, then progressed upwards as the situation changed. The club will continually monitor the restrictions and effect them into our ride schedule.
Our membership has been made aware of additional procedures to be undertaken during group riding while COVID remains present but it is worth mentioning again that:
- pre and post ride procedures for the club and riders to follow including social distancing including no touching, all rides must be discreet (no staggered starts) and no riders can be substituted during a ride
- specific PPE requirements for all riders to carry including disposable gloves, a mask, hand santizer and a first aid kit
- a COVID waiver is required to be signed and provided to the club for its record keeping
to name just a few. All procedures must be followed to permit sanctioned rides to continue and thus have your insurance coverage available. Also, many of these procedures will likely remain with us well into 2021. These protocols should also be considered when riding in non-sanctioned rides.

We will continue to review our ride schedule as we work through the applicable and changing restrictions. Please look for our e-mail updates or use the calendar on the website to see the options available.
Reserving a spot for a ride is now simple with the RSVP system in our calendar.
Feel free to read the current OCA release below or await further update from the Board.
